Matlock, High Tor and the Heights of Abraham walk

A walk around Matlock. The route initially follows the River Derwent and then heads up to the first of the hills, Oker hill; from there it skirts Darley Bridge and then follows the heritage railway cycle path back to Matlock where you have the easy option to end the walk. Alternatively, continue up to the top of High Tor, then along the river at Matlock Bath before returning to Matlock via the final hill, the Heights of Abraham.

The walk is very close to the main road which spoils it a bit if you like piece and quiet. Also the tree felling and roadworks when we visited didn't help. 🙄
