Walks in North East England
A generally hilly region which is noted for its many castles and its sparse population, leaving many areas secluded and unspoiled. The Northeast of England has four AONB which are: the Durham Dales (North Pennines), Howardian Hills, Nidderdale and the Northumberland Coast and has three National Parks; the Yorkshire Moors, Yorkshire Dales & Northumberland; the latter contains the most dramatic section of the Hadrian's Wall World Heritage Site, one of the frontiers of the Roman Empire.
